Gears of War – A Console Treat !!

Tears Gears of war, was one game which I was trying to play desperately on my windows vista. But due to frequent crashes ,I had almost given up on it. A few months back I acquired Xbox 360 and decided to get my hands on the gears of war & gears of war 2. As soon as I plugged the xbox to my 24 inch  monitor and started gears of war , my jaws dropped in amazement. This game is so much smoother in Consoles.

Anyways back to the game, it is a millitary, sci-fi shooter game. It revolves around the delta squad team who are trying to stop a locust horde from annihilating the inhabitants of a planet sera. Locust Horde are Orc-like creatures with gruesome features. Locust Horde has some awesome characters ,killing them gives instant gratification to the gamer-soul. To become more enlightened  go to the wiki, LocustWiki etc.

Continuing on the game, It’s a cover based shooter game, appropriate cover positions are provided to shield you from the incoming bullets ,I got used to it after two or three re-tries, and after that it was a breeze. You get variety of guns to shoot with. I liked the sniper very much, as it’s a one head-shot kill . One of the most scary and after-killing-felt-like-god moment for me was the first Berserker kill. Berserker is a female species in Locust Horde which cannot be killed by guns,chainsaw,bombs(may be too much evil) , The Hammer of Dawn has to be used to kill her. Using Hammer of dawn is amazing , it brings down a pure white heavenly light beam and smites the berserker (the light beam is a satellite-fired beam ).

The Characters Marcus Fenix and Augustus Cole are awesomely designed. They belong to a special unit called Gears. All of the gears are giants as compared to normal humans. It gives a powerful feeling while controlling these two. The joy of killing the locusts cannot be described in words. Though in some areas i felt a bit scared , it was as if the game has pulled me into the environment and I could feel the environment (vibrations are a welcome treat ).

Its a must for all the thrill lovers , for those who thought it’s another mindless millitary shooter , here’s a video-
